----uJy1bwqh;vufKsY Dear Education Applicant: Thank you for your interest in applying to the Indian Hills Community College Education program. Our program prepares the student to become a classroom teacher in a public or private school district anywhere from Preschool to 12 th grade. By entering the Education program, the student is on a path to gain teacher licensure in the state of Iowa or any other state. According to the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE), a state background check and a national fingerprint background check and a check of the sex offender and child and dependent adult abuse registries is to be conducted on all applicants preparing to obtain an Iowa teaching licensure (2019). Therefore, this program is closed to all applicants with a felony record, conviction of a serious misdemeanor crime or any crime of immorality. Background checks are required pending entrance to the Education program since it would be unfair to the student for Indian Hills Community College to allow a student to complete the entire education curriculum only to be refused acceptance into a 4-year institution, licensure and or employment. There are two documents to complete. One is a Questionnaire for Participation Form and the other is the Criminal History Record Check Authorization for Release Form. The Questionnaire for Participation Form is required to be in compliance with Iowa law which is states that this institution can only receive a criminal background check for violations and convictions in the State of Iowa. In completing and signing this form, you, the applicant states that you have not been charged with or convicted of the above listed offenses anywhere in the United States. Again, it would be unfair for an applicant to successfully complete the education program only to be turned away from a 4-year institution or unemployable in the field. Along with the two forms, a check, money order or cashiers check payable to Indian Hills Community College in the amount of $20.00 is required as a processing fee and should be placed in the same envelope with the two forms. Upon receipt of the completed forms and money, we will submit the Criminal History Record Check Authorization for Release Form to the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to perform the background check. A reply is usually received with a day or two. At that point you will be allowed into the program. It is very important to complete the forms and send the processing fee as soon as possible to be accepted into the Education program prior to the start of Fall term. Your documentation will not be processed without both forms or the money to process the forms. Again, please complete both forms and add a check, money order or cashier's check and mail to: ATTN: Program Director, Education Indian Hills Community College 525 Grandview Ave Ottumwa, IA 52501 We appreciate your interest in the Indian Hills Community College Education program and sincerely look forward to working with you. If so, let's talk about how we can work on a wonderful collaboration together! I offer a range of collaboration options using my unique Art Fabric on your products, in a way that enables us to spread our wings, get colourful and access new customers. Below you will find information on negotiating One-off Collaborations, Seasonal Collaborations and Long-term Collaborations with me. All of them have their perks, and the longer we work together, the greater the perks get! Let's chat more about how this might look for us … COLLABORATION SPECIFICATIONS Every person who invests in something truly special, does so because they love its uniqueness. In order to work together, all product collaborations with me will ideally be Limited Edition by nature (e.g. only every X number made of your product, per fabric). By offering 'Limited Edition' products to your customers, your items will become 'bespoke' and highly sought after, as they will be limited in number – like Art. It's also a great way to offer a highend design into your product list, and enable your customers to feel like they are getting something truly unique and with appreciating value. Essentially, your item will become Artworks in themselves! You and I can nut-out the limited edition number individually, based on your product and fabric requirements. COLLABORATION ETHICS As business owners, be both have unique products with a unique market. In order to enter into a mutually beneficial collaboration, we both need to be trustworthy, ethical and professional in all our dealing together, and especially with our customers. We need to be aware that working together enables us to support and enhance each other's businesses and client networks, so the utmost quality and professionalism must be upheld at all times. As a result, I will only consider entering into a collaboration agreement with Professional Craftisans who have a proven track record of complete customer satisfaction, AND who own an ABN for business purposes. I have thousands of customers throughout my networks and every single one of them is delighted with my products and services. I will always do whatever it takes to keep my customers happy and to work ethically and with love. I choose to keep it this way! If you feel the same, we're off to a great start. Together, collaborations will help us both to share our work to a greater audience, which can only be good for business. You and I will agree to always link and share each other's work via our social networking accounts, online shops and websites, so that we are both helping each other's business networks grow and expand as we share new works together. www.chrissyforemanc.com.au LET'S COLLABORATE… To date I have worked on some amazing collaborations with talented, Independent Craftisans in Australia. Over this time we have had some truly amazing experiences and shared joys! By you choosing to use my Art Fabrics, you are offering your customers something completely new and unique. They will be purchasing a functional Artwork and so your work will have a whole new appeal. You can then become a go-to-supplier when I have fabrication requests from my customers. Win-win! In order to enter into an Art Fabric collaboration, you and I will need to discuss what your specific products and fabric requirements are. If you are creating smaller items, such as jewellery, we can look at ordering quarter yards, whereas larger items, such as clothing, can be ordered by the yard. All fabrics will need to be custom-ordered and printed, so please allow 4-6 week lead time for our collaboration project together (a great lead-time to share enticing sneak-peeks with your customers!) If you would like to join me, I have provided a number of ways you and I can negotiate collaborating together below … ONE OFF COLLABORATIONS – How it works … If you are interested in using my fabrics in a one-off creation for personal use, I would love hear from you! Simply select and purchase your desired fabric from my shop here, then go forth and create your beautiful item. There is no application process for this. I'm always happy to share people's amazing creations on my facebook and Instagram page, so be sure to send me through an image of your completed item. You can then on-sell your beautiful item in your shop yourself and keep all the profits. YAY! SEASONAL COLLABORATIONS – WHOLESALE - How it works … Every season, I offer four new Art Fabrics as a collection. This means, every Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, I will have new collections to work with in your own, amazing designs! To work on a Seasonal Collaboration together, I am able to offer you wholesale rates to you on these four Seasonal Art Fabrics. A minimum of four units are required for collaborations to be considered at wholesale rates (minimum wholesale is usually 10 units). To enter into a Seasonal Collaboration with me, you will need to offer your products as Limited Edition items. Please fill out the attached form to apply for wholesale prices and we can go ahead from there (wholesale prices are for you to create your items only, not for on-selling my fabrics). LONG TERM COLLABORATIONS – WHOLESALE + (special features) - How it works … I am currently taking expressions of interest for Long-term Collaborations with Independent Professional Craftisans. All long-term collaborations will only be considered after a One-off Collaboration or Seasonal Collaboration has taken place (see above). This enables us both to enter into a trusting agreement together. (Continued next page) www.chrissyforemanc.com.au As a Long-term Collaborator, you will receive:  Access to my entire fabrics range at WHOLESALE PRICES, no minimums required (both for your business and even for your own, personal use!)  Access to Pre-sale ordering on all New Season fabrics, prior to launch to the public  A free Designer Spotlight showcase and a link to your website in my new Collaborations Page on my website  Receive a free listing in my shop, for all Custom Order items we work on together  Exposure to new fans, via Chrissy social-sharing your new works as you create them  Exclusive collaboration rights in your specific product field for that Season (e.g. one cushion collaboration per season, one fabric necklace collaboration, one children's clothing collaboration etc) As Long-term Collaborators, together we will:  Collaboratively select up to THREE of your products, which will be translated into a Limited Edition Range featuring my Art Fabrics.  Agree to feature a Custom Order item listing in both our shops, to ensure extra promotion of your work.  Give customers your choice of Seasonal Art Fabric options to choose from (e.g. four of my fabric designs, per season). As a Long-term Collaborator, Chrissy will:  Create an image for both our Custom Order shop listings, featuring an image of your product with my Art Fabric options.  Upon receipt of a custom order through my shop, I will immediately forward the order and *payment to you (*minus paypal fees), and you create the garment and post it off to the customer.  Periodically share your newly created items via my social media accounts  Promise to be awesome at all times! From time to time, I license my fabrics to companies who wish to use my fabrics on a larger scale. If this is an existing fabric currently offered in my range, you will be notified of the design chosen for this, and decide whether you would like to still use this design, or access another design instead to keep with your 'indie' feel. TIPS ON PRICING LIMITED EDITION PRODUCTS: As part of our collaboration agreement, all your products featuring my fabrics will need to be Limited Edition items. This means, you will be able to charge more for them than you usually would, as there will only ever be a certain amount created in the world! Here are some simple tips for pricing your Limited Edition Products … 1. Work out how much wholesale Art Fabric you require for your item. 2. Calculate how much this wholesale Art Fabric will cost you (e.g. one yard quilting weight Art Fabric = $32, to make a child's dress) 3. Calculate how much you would normally charge for a similar item (e.g. $35 for child's dress) 4. Add these base prices together to come up with your retail price. 5. Consider adding 15% - 25% overall to reflect 'limited edition' prices. ----zR;vkhk;cib
I will be out of the office from Tuesday, February 18 through Friday, February 21. I will have access to email and will reply if necessary. All other emails will be returned on Monday, February 24. Thank you!

----sLt7ixSA;woMNiF 1 Welcome – It's good to see you, and thank you for your interest in case management and civil justice reform. As the chief said, it was in 1992, 25 years ago – that Arizona adopted the Zlaket rules. Those rules were intended to change the culture of the practice of civil litigation. And the culture did change. To the extent the intent of the rules was to curtail the "Rambo" litigator, we can argue about how effective they were. But in changing a culture of trying to find a way to keep from producing information, to a culture of disclosure, I think they've been quite successful. Arizona lawyers today don't question disclosure rules. And a couple of surveys reflect that two to one, Arizona lawyers prefer to litigate in state court, with those rules, rather than in federal court, without. The U.S. District Court has started pilot projects here in Arizona and in Illinois – Arizona lawyers are unconcerned and the lawyers in Illinois are horrified that they will be required to give up their finely crafted responses to discovery requests, allowing them to hide the ball unless the other side asks just the right question. So why civil justice reform? What is the problem? "Uncertainty, delay and expense, and above all the injustice of deciding cases upon 2 points of practice, which are the mere etiquette of justice, direct results of the organization of our courts and the backwardness of our procedure, have created a deep-seated desire to keep out of court, right or wrong, on the part of every sensible business man in the community." Roscoe Pound, 1906, ABA presentation. Or, as the Chief Justice of the United States said "Our system is too costly, too painful, too destructive, too inefficient for a truly civilized people." Chief Justice Burger, 1984 report to the ABA on the state of justice. We - that is, judges - have been engaged in the reform of the judicial branch since the turn of the last century. Historically, I think that's because we recognize as a core value that judges must be independent. But I'd ask you to think for a moment about what we mean by the term judicial independence. We insist on judicial independence – that judges decide cases without outside interference from anyone - decisional independence. But to have decisional independence, we must have institutional independence. The judicial branch, and hence judges, can't be independent if they can't efficiently manage the judicial branch of government, and be perceived as competent and independent by the other 3 two branches of government. The fundamental idea underlying court reform for the last hundred years, as we've gone from judges running their own courtroom as an individual fiefdom, to a judicial branch with a management structure, is that judges must be able to effectively and efficiently manage the business of the courts if they want to be independent to make their decisions. In the 1980's as Justice Burger suggested, the proposed remedy was arbitration and mediation. But more than 30 years after Justice Burger's speech, our civil justice system is still generally perceived as too slow, too expensive, and too inefficient. The large firm civil lawyers I have spoken to say that they advise clients that unless one million dollars or more is at stake, that it doesn't make economic sense to take a case to trial. That is not a system that will serve to resolve the average citizen's disputes. As a result, there has been a nationwide call for reform of our civil justice system. The Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System/American College of Trial Lawyers Task Force on Discovery and Civil Justice Report in 2015 suggests 24 principles for civil justice reform, 4 including adoption of mandatory disclosure rules like Arizona's. Likewise, the Conference of Chief Justices' Civil Justice Improvements Committee 2016 Report resulted in a resolution by the Conference of Chief Justices and the Conference of State Court Administrators calling for each state to develop and implement a civil justice improvement plan. Why does it matter? We are in the business of dispute resolution. Courts exist for people to bring us their disputes. Taxpayers fund us to provide that service. But they use us less and less, and choose alternatives whenever they can. And for the last 35 years, since I've been a practicing lawyer, we have been driving that business away. As Justice Burger suggested, we consciously have built a system that actively pushes cases to other methods of dispute resolution as a means of managing our caseloads. And we've succeeded. If we were running a for-profit business that depended on new customers for its income, we'd be headed for bankruptcy. In Arizona, of the cases resolved in 2016, .44% were tried to a jury, and .45% were tried to a judge. That is, less than 1% of cases were resolved by a trial. 2014 and 2015 were no different. And if lawyers are not trying 5 cases, where will we find judges who can try jury cases? It is not unusual to recommend names to the Governor for appointment as superior court judges, who have never tried a jury trial. One of our Arizona law schools debated whether to hire a new trial practice professor or instead to hire someone to teach arbitration and mediation practice. I think jury trials are important, not just to the parties but to our nation as a democracy. John Adams said that "Representative government and trial by jury are the heart and lungs of liberty." For most people, votingand service on a jury are the only two opportunities they have to participate in their government. As Professor Andrew Ferguson put it in his book "Why Jury Duty Matters," jury service "may be the closest a citizen ever comes to the Constitution – participating in a process through which constitutional rights and values come alive in practice." The diminishing number of trials also has an impact on the development of our law. Fewer trials means fewer cases coming up on appeal. The common law develops through appellate opinions. 6 For me, the work of the Civil Justice Reform Committee is a step to returning to a system where trials are as efficient a means of resolving disputes as arbitration or mediation. I would argue, however, that the real work required is not in changing the culture of the bar like the Zlaket rules, rather it is in changing the culture of the bench. I think it starts with a philosophical question which has been debated since at least the 1950's. Who is responsible for moving cases through our system - the parties or the court? Our civil justice system has historically expected litigants to drive the pace of civil litigation by moving for court involvement as issues arise. Frequently though, at least one party benefits from delay and from driving up expense. For our system to work efficiently, once a case is filed in court, it must become the court's responsibility to manage the case toward a just and timely resolution. If we are to have an independent judiciary, relevant as a means of civil dispute resolution, judges have to take control of their caseloads, and of their individual cases. The court has to drive the pace of litigation. If we want to be in the business of trying civil cases, we must 7 develop a reputation as an efficient, cost-effective means of resolving civil cases. The civil justice reform committee, ably led by Don Bivins, was charged by the Chief Justice with "developing recommendations to reduce the cost and time required to resolve civil cases in Arizona's superior courts." Don led a broad-based committee, with extensive experience representing all aspects of civil practice, including a number well-respected trial judges. I think our Court has adopted a set of rules which give judges the tools needed to actively manage their cases. They give new judges a place to start and experienced judges the freedom to innovate. We now need to convince judges to use them. So I thank you for being here to start the hard work of changing our culture.
